A Seven Second Series

Robin Davis Photography Sunset Series The Third Eye Photography Workshop Adventures

The Sun is a star.

Once the sphere first touches the horizon line, it takes about 2 minutes to disappear from our view.

This is the last seven seconds covered in 10 clicks of the camera. Because it was shot out of focus the sun continues to appear as a circle and does not sink. Instead it just slowly vanishes, and is gone.

I could not resist putting the images together as an animated GIF loop that speeds it up a bit!

The view is across the water, seen from the porch on St. Simons Sound.

Into the Tuscan Fog

Fog-Man-and-Church-2-1024x426

Fall in Cortona has a clarity and color all its own.
Some mornings we awake to a world of mystery when Cortona is banked in moving bands of fog.

Like a glamour filter enveloping the world, there is a glowing effect over what we see…
and more importantly and mysteriously, what we do not see !

Fog also produces a cooling soft light, often fading slowly as golden sun rays appear, streaking down through the thinning atmosphere and dappling the landscape, eventually giving way to a beautiful misty sunny morning.

These two images above were taken on the same foggy morning walk, just above Cortona, about 15 minutes apart. The image here below was on another great day when wispy bands partially covered our view of the valley below Cortona’s hilltop.
